Virtual Counselling
We offer virtual counselling sessions to residents of Alberta. This includes video calls through JaneApp, Microsoft Teams, or phone calls.
Over the past couple years, the counselling community has seen a shift in how services are being delivered. There have been many proven benefits to online services, including greater accessibility. Online services also offer fewer barriers and more flexibility with schedules. However, it is important to be aware of risks. Ensure you have a confidential space to avoid being overheard by someone in your home. Be mindful of distractions and unforeseen technical problems.
We do our best to guarantee both therapist and client have a safe space for your experience. We can always troubleshoot technical issues together if need be.
In-Person Face-to-Face
We are now offering in-person sessions in our office in Didsbury, AB. Just a short drive from surrounding areas like Carstairs, Olds, Cremona, and Crossfield. If you want to avoid traffic into bigger areas like Calgary, Airdrie, Red Deer or Cochrane, this is a great option!

This depends on your presenting concerns and needs. Most clients start out with weekly or bi-weekly sessions and space them out as they start making progress.
Most clients find it takes 3 sessions to start feeling different and 10+ sessions to see lasting change.
-
Most extended health insurance plans cover all or part of the service fees of a Registered Psychologist. You can usually find your annual coverage for psychological services in the section of your policy. This is the same section that also lists chiropractors, physiotherapists, and massage therapy. The amount covered by your insurance changes by provider and policy.
-
A therapy hour is 50 minutes. This gives your therapist time to finish notes and do administrative work at the end of the session (booking next appointment, notes, direct billing or charging credit card for session ect.)
-
You will receive a welcome email and will be prompted to complete a service agreement/consent form prior to the first session. It is also helpful if you enter your payment information at this time in order to save time in the first session.

As per policy, it is required to have a credit card or a Visa debit card on file. However, we direct bill most insurance companies and also accept e-transfers if need be.

The College of Alberta Psychologists heavily regulates the education and formal training required for the accreditation of a “Psychologist.” To become a Psychologist in Alberta, practitioners are required to complete:
Minimum level of education; Masters Degree inclusive of formal counselling practice
1,600 hours of supervised client hours
Numerous professional examinations
In Alberta there are less regulations to work as a “counsellor.” This is one of the reasons why many insurance companies do not reimburse fees from working with counsellors.
